It’s hard if parents:-

• Are getting older
• Are finding it difficult to get around their home
• Have lost their partner
• Are living some distance away

However, getting them to move closer to you may not be the best thing for them because:

• Good friends or other relatives may be able to care for them
• Their current lifestyle may suit them
• They could buy something suitable close to their present home

If they are keen to move nearer you could:-

• Buy a bigger place together; however live together first to make sure this would work!
• Look at specialist accommodation which offers individual units with shared communal areas and support, either to buy or rent.

Particularly if selling and buying, help with choosing estate agents and legal companies.  Check before they sign anything, that they are not being tied into unfair agreements.
